Forge
Active Dev
Forge is an agentic IDE I'm building, funded out of freelance work, with a co-founder. It's for developers who want an AI pair programmer that actually understands what it's looking at, not one that's just good at guessing.
Most agentic tools treat a codebase as a pile of text to skim and treat their tools as a firehose to drink from. I don't think either approach scales. Forge is built around a different bet: that an agent reasons better when it can see code as a structure of relationships instead of a stack of files, and works better when the data coming back from its tools is shaped for what it actually needs in that moment, not dumped on it wholesale. I've written more about both of those bets and where I think the evidence still falls short over on this blog why agents need a map.
It's also where most of my lower-level Flutter and native work lives: a terminal built on real PTY wiring instead of a wrapped web view, an integrated in-app browser, a custom rendering layer for the UI, a plugin system still in development, and a small blacksmith hamster named Gimli who's slowly getting animated better than he has any right to be.
It's early, opinionated, and still mostly my co-founder and me testing our own bets against reality.
